Title: The Terrible Wave (12/07/08)
Description: You have read about one-third of the book The Terrible Wave. The author, Marden Dahlstedt, has a style of writing that seems to put the reader right into the action. The descriptions are very vivid.

For this blog, reexamine chapter 3. The statement was made that Megan was encountering "a nightmare world." Scan through the chapter and select a couple of the passages that you think are extremely descriptive toward making the action seem like a nightmare. Quote the passages for your blog and then give your ideas as to how those descriptions makes the action seem like a nightmare. Pick ideas that really show description and compose your thoughts so that the reader can clearly see your points.

Abricadian’s story THE TERRIBLE FlOOD.......

In the book “The Terrible Wave,” Megan Maxwell had encountered a very large wave that was going at about 40 to 50 mph. This wave hit the city of Johnstown at 4:07 in 1889. This is the starting of a Nightmare World

This is a quote from the book;

“ Gasping Megan saw that it had been a great dark bulk of a horse, slack and floating on its side, its large, soft eyes staring sightlessly into the rain”.

This is a nightmare world. Megan saw a dead figure of a horse in the water. Seeing a dead figure is bad because it shows that something bad may happen.

Another quote from the book is when...

“ Last of all she noticed the smell. It was horrible, a sour and rotten stench, that instinctively she raised her head in recoil from it”.

Megan is in a bad position and then she is smelling a rotten smell. This and the other description show very bad karma.

Marden Dahlstedt is an author who is describing something bad about to happen. Is the terrible thing going to happen? Dahlstedt is trying to make you think something scary is about to happen. Maybe Marden Dahlstedt is going to write about Megan’s parents saying they are dead. This will be a tragedy, but we have to read on.
