Dear Class,
Congratulations! You did a fantastic job in the Computer Lab last week. We worked together and practiced signing in.
A few students composed their first blog. Great Job! I am so proud of your effort and hardwork.

Capital Letters are Important!

Using capital letters is an important part of writing in Standard English. We need to use capitals:
-when we write the first word in EVERY sentence.
- when we use proper nouns. Proper nouns include names of countries, teams, people, specific places or historical events, and names of organizations.
A few examples for you... Countries or Continents: Kenya, France, Asia, and Australia.
Teams: the Steelers, the Duke Blue Devils, the North Carolina Tarheels and the Illinois State Redbirds.
People: Mr. Forsythe, President Obama, Mrs. Hoover, and Peter Pan.
Specific places or historical events: the Revolutionary War, the Bill of Rights, the Rocky Mountains, Durham County and the Eiffel Tower.
Names of Organizations: the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, General Motors Corporation and the House of Representatives.
The last one that we forget ALL THE TIME is to capitalize "I" when we are talking about our thoughts or feelings. Remember blogging is all about you and your ideas and feelings. You should be using "I" many times!

It's fun and will teach us how to leave appropriate comments with other classes around the world. Thanks to Mr. Greenberg's class in Bridgeport for the idea.
