After having a chance to love and enjoy the new babies, we have given the pheasants back to the Wildlife Federation, who will raise them until they are old enough to be released into the wild.

Our Pheasant Eggs

Article posted May 19, 2012 at 03:24 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 9668

For the past few weeks, my students have been faithfully caring for some multi-coloured pheasant eggs we received from the Wildlife Federation. Once the eggs have hatched, we will give the baby pheasants back to the Wildlife Federation who will care for them until they are grown and then release them into the wild. They should be hatching in the next few days. We can't wait!

If you follow this blog regularly, you will have seen the letter the students wrote last December to the Ministry of Education about the bandwidth at our school. Since then, the students have continued to wonder about this issue. This video shows the students continuing quest to understand, and finally, an answer!!

What's In the Bags?

Article posted May 11, 2012 at 02:48 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 4018

Do you wonder what is inside these gift bags?

We can't tell, because they are for our mothers for Mother's Day. We made them ourselves and know our moms will really like them!

The View from Up Here

Article posted May 4, 2012 at 02:53 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 7975

We're participating in a project that involves schools from around the world sharing what it looks like where they live. To show what it looks like around our school, we headed outside with our iPads to take pictures of what we saw. Many of the students felt they could get a better "view" from this dirt mound.

Our new iPads have finally arrived in our classroom! We christened them by playing new games, drawing and taking some photos. I think I can safely say that the students unanimously love our new learning tools.

Our class has been connecting and learning with classrooms from many places. The story below was written in cooperation with Mrs. Bair's fourth grade class in Pennsylvania. Our classes took turns adding to the story. We love the way it turned out!

Drawing Like Vincent Van Gogh

Article posted April 2, 2012 at 01:13 AM GMT0 • comment (7) • Reads 6032

My students are participating in a project called Vincent van Gogh Goes to School. Last week we imitated a famous painting of his called "The Potato Eaters".

This time we looked at the way he painted pictures of himself, and tried to copy his techniques. Here are our self-portraits.
