Lunar Eclipse
Today, (Wednesday February 20) there is going to be a lunar eclipse that will last for about 3 and a half hours. Even so, the actual eclipse will last for 51 minutes. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth lines up directly between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow over the moon's surface, so that you can only see part of the moon, or nothing at all. During an eclipse the moon changes color, going from a light gray color to an orange or deep red.The moon takes on this new color because indirect sunlight is still able to pass through the Earth's atmosphere and cast a glow on the moon. This is an important eclipse because this one is the last until 2010, which is quite far from now. So I would suggest that everyone try and stay up to watch this ecplise, because this is a special moment.
