Title: What is Zero? (03/03/09)
Description:

Mrs. Young -- ZERO?

Article posted March 3, 2009 at 09:32 PM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 5618

Z.W. asked, "What is zero? Is it a negative or positive number?" An awesome discussion took place during the green group's math session. If you were there and shared...I hope you can capture your thoughts in this blog. If you were not there...What do you think zero is?

I think zero is well a negative and a positive because well the number is above and below at the same time because 1 and -1 are near zero so you could call it a negative and a positive.

LM -- I Don't Know What Zero Is

Article posted March 5, 2009 at 07:42 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1046

Zero to me is many things to me. It is a circle as well as a number. Numbers. They can be weird, like for instinst, negitive numbers are below zero but what is the name of numbers above zero I ask you. To me zero is the middle of any thing.

ST -- Zero

Article posted March 3, 2009 at 10:43 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1011

I think of zero as having two forms, alone it is nothing but with another number to the left of it I think of it as a number additive enhancing the number to make it larger (or smaller in the case of a negative number) example: 50 is larger then 5 and -50 is less then -5and that concludes my point.

VB -- The Zero Philosophy

Article posted March 3, 2009 at 10:23 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 876

I think 0 is like a separator between positive and negative. I know that 0 isn’t a positive number because positive numbers have a value; at the same time I know it isn’t a negative number because it’s not less than zero.

I think zero is about a video or kind of like a power point shows a number zero and talks about it?

Zero is the connector between negative and positive, zero is a number with no value it stands alone in the big crowd like sunlight on a cloudy day, it is nothing blank space in this world.

Zero is like the divider between negative numbers and positive numbers. It is not a negative number because it is not less than zero, but it is not a positive number both because it is not higher than zero and it has no value like all other positive numbers. I think that it is like the root number, because it is neither negative or positive, but in between and it doesn’t have a value or an un-value.

I really do not know what zero is but if I had to say a definition I would say it is the deviser between positive and negative that is not really one of them.  It is like a sandwich where there is white bread on one side and whole wheat bread on the other side but the jelly is not either type of bread it is the middle, devisor, inside.

Zero is neither negative nor positive. I think it is the absence of numbers, like black is the absence of light and color. Zero is nothing, zero is just the balanced point between negative. and positive.

RJ -- Zero is Darkness

Article posted March 4, 2009 at 06:12 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1545

I think of zero as nothing. Zero is not a number. Zero is like space. Very, Very, empty. Zero is complete darkness. If you have one, you see a little light. If you have zero, you see none.

JB -- Zero Is Nothing

Article posted March 5, 2009 at 07:50 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1018

Zero. Zero is nothing. Zero is isolation, dark, cut off from the rest of the world. Zero is a separator from the positive and negative. One digit, no meaning. If zero were a planet it would support no life, it would be empty and dark. When a baby’s not born it not alive but not dead. It’s zero. Separation, isolation, dark. Zero

If zero were a cruise ship, zero wouldn't be a floor on the criuse ship (positive #s) nor would it be underwater (negative #s). Zero is the seperator of positive and negative. It is just plain weird.
