I just returned from Google Teacher Academy. At least 3 or 4 people people heard my story about my first grade teacher using classblogmeister! She loves it, she is having a baby on Monday, and she was thrilled to see how easy it will be to approve her student writing, her comments and she is even updating her blog site with an audio message from G-cast! Go Mrs. Langiler!

While many of you are already on summer vacation, spring slowly evolves into summer in the Northeast. We are already into June and the rainy weather just will not leave. The flowers and vegetable gardens and grass just love all this rain, and as soon as we have a couple warm days watch out for the bugs. But, if we didn't have bugs, then what would the dragonflies and bats eat?
I don't mind the weather, it is all part of what we enjoy about living so close to nature. Here is a rainy day in the Northeast. Can't you just smell the air as you read this entry? "As it turns out, the smells people associate with rainstorms can be caused by a number of things. One of the more pleasant rain smells, the one we often notice in the woods, is actually caused by bacteria! Actinomycetes, a type of filamentous bacteria, grow in soil when conditions are damp and warm."

Last year at Wells Elementary School, and all over the world, we watched the eagle cam throughout spring. It is spring again, it appears there are two eggs in the nest. Where else can you observe nature and collaborate with sciencetists on a daily basis. The Internet has made all this available to us for free. If you would like to make a donation to the eagle cam project you can by clicking on the link at their website. It would be a great classroom project. All pennies help. I am going to add the code here so you can see the female eagle laying the 2nd egg.
