 Stars and the Earth To a lot of people it seems that whenever the earth moves the stars look like their moving too. This is because were only moving and the stars stay in the same spot. Some sad news is that stars do not twinkle, it's just an optical illusion. The fastest thing we know of is the speed of light. It can travel 186,000 miles/min. 11,160,000 miles/sec. A light year is a distance. This certain light year travels in one year. Light can travel through a vacum ( nothing ). You cant see it from the side.
