Interesting Space Info
The Earth and it's surrounding's are very interesting. The Earth, Venus, Mercury, and Mars are actually closer to the sun then you would think. Mercury, the first of the planets is the closest to the sun.
A scientist named Bode was the first person to find out a trick to find how far the planets are from the sun in inches. He did 0 + 4 divided by 10, which came out to 0.4 inches from the sun on a piece of paper, that is for mercury. He continued to do the same thing, but only he went up and did 3 + 4 divided by 10, and then by 6, 12, 24, 46, and so on. After that they found out how far the planets are in space. Some scientists think that Pluto is not a planet because they think that it is one of Neptune's moon's but somehow they collided and bumped each other far away, and that's why they are so far away. The trick that Bode came up with is not quite exact, they think this is because where the calculations add up, where the planets should be are no planets. Like in between Mars and Jupiter there is an asteroid belt.
