Terrific Twelves are a class of Year 3 and 4 Kiwis, aged 7 - 9. We are an e-learning class this year, so we will be extending our e-knowledge and skills by using all sorts of software programmes. Blogging is a great way to document our progress, and it also allows us to share our exciting learning globally. Take a look at our learning so far... Delicious Bookmark this on Delicious

Sneak Preview We've just completed our calendar art in Room 12, ready to be made into wonderful calendars and cards for Christmas.

Because we are an e-learning class, we have produced our art using e-technology. First we created a background in the Kidpix programme and printscreened it into Publisher where we saved it as a JPEG picture.

We took photos of ourselves; some dressed up, others in uniform, posing in front of a blue sheet.

In the software programme UMAJIN, we imported our background picture, and then our photo. We set about 'blue-screening' our photo, making it into a 'cut-out', which meant it had no background at all.

We inserted our 'cut-out' photo into our background, and used the same process of print screen to paste it into publisher, where we saved the finished picture as a JPEG file.

Sounds complicated, but isn't really. These are great skills that we can now apply in a whole range of ways when computing.

We did learn, that if you wear dark green or dark blue, it's much harder to remove the background. In fact, you either wind up see-through or you have a light box around your picture! Food for thought, next time we do blue-screening.
