Creativity Across the Curriculum
I'm always looking for new ideas that will equip our students with the skills and knowledge necessary for the 21st century. I think Daniel Pink's book A WHOLE NEW MIND: WHY RIGHT BRAINERS WILL RULE THE FUTURE can assist in this goal. Pink argues that the world will depend on the insights of right-brainers, those who are creative, imaginative and see the big picture. He continues by arguing that we are living in a "Conceptual Age", a period where creators and empathizers are going to use their talents in productive ways. These "meaning makers" will be marketing products that "speak more to the right side of your brain".
I am going to delve into this theory by promoting and ensuring that we, as educators, are teaching students in ways that brings out their creativity. We will develop a curriculum where assignments and projects call for originality and imagination on the part of the student. I think this is a worthy goal.

I also liked Pink's point about cultivating the more creative half of the brain.
