The Hunger Games starts out with a girl named Katniss Everdeen.  North America is in ruins and there is the annual Hunger Games.  Twenty-Four teens are forced to kill each other in an arena.  Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, when  her name gets drawn.  Katniss is in district twelve with Peeta, a bread boy.  They train and Katniss is good with the bow.  Peeta is very strong and good at camouflage.  They go in to the arena and Katniss gets a backpack, goes in a tree, and tries to find water.  Peeta goes with the career tributes, who are people trained for the games.  Many people die on the first day and then time passes.  Katniss then finds Rue, a girl met in training, and they drop a tracker jacker nest on the careers. Two die, but most live, including Peeta.  Glimmer, a career,  had a bow which Katniss took after she died.  Katniss got stung a few times.  Cato came and tried to kill her but Peeta rescued her.  Later, her and Rue blew up the career tributes food.  Katniss gets her eardrum blown out.  Her and Peeta then go into a cave.  Katniss found Peeta by a river near the cave.  They revived each other.  One night, there were backpacks for each district that was left.  Katniss got number 12 and then ran.  A girl from 2 took her out but the boy from 3 killed her.  Katniss went back to camp, only to find the boy from 3 dead.  Peeta got berries, which the girl from 5 ate and died.  It was only Katniss, Peeta, and Cato.  Cato and Katniss and Peeta were at the lake and then these mutts came and mauled Cato. That is all I can tell you.

My favorite part was when Peeta was camouflaged by the river. I highly recommend this book to anyone, no matter what types of books they like.
