Hi There! You found our blog! This is the place to share your knowledge with other students, to publish your best work and most importantly it's a place to reflect on what we're learning.
Blogging is all about working with and discussing new ideas with other people -- THIS is the place to do just that. Use the comment feature below each post, or make your own post on your blog. The sky's the limit...let your imagination soar and let’s get down to some serious blogging!
Here's your first blogging assignment, focused on Current Events:
We discussed in class the wide range of news stories out there: World, National (including crime, disasters, war etc), Sports, Business, Entertainment, Science etc...
1. I want you to choose a news story that interests you from the categories above. Make sure it is something you are interested in so you feel motivated to find more about it.
2. Choose three question that you would like to investigate. Choose at least one from each stage.
3. Try to find out more about your topic so you can answer your questions. Watch TV news, read the newspaper, look on the internet (see news links on the left) and ask your parent and friends what they think about it. As you read/listen, start to form opinions of your own about the topic. It would be a good idea to take a few notes so you can use them when you start writing.
3. Write your blog post. This should be a couple of paragraphs, summarising the story/topic and what you found out about it, and giving your opinion about it. Draft this in your Draft Writing or Homework book first. Your writing MUST be original! Do not cut and paste from other people’s work, but you can link to it from your blog.
4. End with a thought-provoking Stage 3 question that will encourage other people to leave a comment on your blog.
When your post is ready for publication, click ‘Publish’ and it will come to me for comment. I might suggest a few changes and send it back to you, or I will publish it, and that’s when you go LIVE!
If you take this assignment seriously now and invest some real time and energy into it, you'll probably develop into an excellent blogger!
Have Fun!
