The Sun KWL The most interesting thing about the sun that it is a main-sequence star in the Solar System. The sun is about 93 million miles away from the earth. The sun is a fairly average, middle-aged (some 4.5 billion years old). The sun is a mixure of gas that could approximatel 75% hydrogen and 25% helium. But the interesting thing about the sun is that it is a main-sequence star in the Solar System.
