It was mid morning and I have been sitting here since sunrise. I am determined to make the jump! I will jump...I will leap...I will fly beyond belief... alright maybe just drop in. Can you hear it too? Can you feel the ground shaking? It is my heart and head pounding! My hands are sweaty my mind is racing. How deep is it at the end of the dock. Is there a rock down there that I might hit? Maybe some seaweed that my legs will tangle in and keep me down forever. Just go already. Others have jumped off this dock, it's safe. I can do it... I can do it...

Alright. I'm getting up. The planks bounce and creak under my feet. My legs shake and wobble like a newborn puppy. The end of the dock looks like a never ending walk to the principals office when you are in trouble. I am at the door and I must go through. It is time to jump! Truly jump off the dock. I am ready, my knees bend, wobble, I push and extend as my heart shoots into my throat. For a moment I am weightless in the air, then I pierce the glassy surface of the lake and begin flailing madly to reach the surface even before I am completely swallowed by the black abyss. I burst into the light and gasp air giggling hysterically! I have done it! "I DID it," I screamed to the world, though no one was there.
