As of June 26, 2009, this website (blog) is now closed. The students have graduated. You can feel free to comment to a student's work, but I can't promise they'll comment back.
And former students, you can continue to post and comment, too. I'll always be here to publish!
This website is a place to publish some of the work we do in our class. Some of the work published here is our thinking about the news. Some of the work is our "Writing Projects," self-selected writing projects the students initiate. Formal class assignments will also be published here.
The work is coded in each title as follows: A = teacher assignment N = writing about the news WP = writing project (self-initiated writing).
It's also coded as "audio" if there is an audio recording of the work and "video" if there is a video version.
Leave a comment for a specific student by visiting his or her page to the right and leaving a comment at the bottom of an article. All comments are moderated -- they are sent to me for approval before being published to this website.
It's all about those comments and having an audience! We wouldn't waste our time with this website if it wasn't for the comments we get! Leave us a comment and we'll comment back! Sometimes it takes us a bit of time to comment back. We have only 4 classroom computers so it's hard for each of us to get to our comments as quickly as we would like.
PLEASE remember to include a link to your webpage (blog) in the comment or it's VERY hard for us to find you! If you don't include a link back to your webpage (blog) we might not be able to comment back! Below is what the comment fields will look like when you click on the "comment" link at the bottom of someone's article. Note, sometimes you have to scroll WAY down past other comments to see these comment fields. Also, you don't HAVE to include an email address or a link to a webpage -- but if you do include a link to your webpage (blog) it makes it easier for us to comment back.

Hi! I have a 5th grade class in Dallas, GA. Would love to use your assignment for school report. I think the kids would enjoy it. Also really like the photo shot for teaching kids where to put their url. Do you mind if I use it?

I am from Mr. Howitt's class, maybe you already know me but your class sure looks goofy! I think that you are teaching an excellent class. The students must be really nice right? Or wrong?

Hi Mr. Brune!!!
It's Alyssa, your student from two years ago. I am in the seventh grade at the Hommocks and it is really great. I have a lot of new friends and I don't really get to see any of the people from MAS because we are all on different teams. But I am glad with the people and the teachers now. So tell me about you. How have your classes been? How is your family? Comment back please. I will come visit some time. Bye!!

You have commented Eric's blog about what do you think is different in our comments. I think that it's about the same. WE ask questions about the United States and you guys ask about China. It's very cool. My oppiniuon.

I really like your blog.I am from Mr. Howitt's class so I just came here because it was part of our homework. I think New York is great and I really want to go there but my mom said that we have no time. I want to see the Statue Of Liberty too! I read about it but I really want to see it in my little black pupil.

Good Morning Mr. Brune:
A big thank you to you and your students for your continued support of our blogging efforts. At times it is hard to get it in during the course of the day and your replies and comments help keep us motivated.
You mentioned that you were having some difficulty posting to our blog sites as the spam word filter did not work properly. I have mentioned this to the people in charge and hopefully it will be working asap.
Thank you again.
