The Greatest Day EVER!
Wednesday was an exciting day at Northside School, especially for the Woodsters. It was full of visits, both live and from far away.
We were lucky enough to have a very famous author visit our school to talk to us about his life and writing. Jack Gantos, author of the Joey Pigza series and Jack Henry series, among many other titles, came and spoke with Northsides fourth and fifth graders during the morning. Jack was an amazing speaker and he was full of amusing stories about ZAPPING! watches and spaghetti. Jack was also very helpful in teaching us some strategies to capture the events in our lives in writing. I even was able to spend a few minutes talking with him. He may even be a reader here someday! It was an honor to meet him and have him at our school. We hope he comes back someday!
As if that was not enough to make Wednesday the greatest day EVER, we had a call on Skype from a classmate during the afternoon. ET traveled to Israel during our spring break, and she was there for an extra week. She, her father, and I set up a call to the classroom, which was a surprise for the kids. It was so cool to have a conversation with and see ET from the other side of the world in real time. She told us all about swimming with dolphins in the Dead Sea and visiting religious sites throughout Jerusalem. All of the Woodsters were able to talk with her individually and ask her questions about the trip and Israel. The Skype call from ET was amazing to be part of. Thanks so much to ET's dad for making this happen!
Please check back often. We have so many great things happening during the next month to share with you! Also, please read the posts we wrote about our Jack Gantos visit and the ET Skype call. and comment to the students work. That's why we are here and why they write, to hear your thoughts!

My Classes & Students

About the Blogger
I wear many hats from fourth grade teacher, to coach, to dad. I love the Boston Red Sox, cooking, listening to music, playing soccer, and reading. I am also hooked on learning new technologies and how they can make learning easier, more fun, and more efficient.
