Guided Reading Last week, we began doing our guided reading time in a different way. Every morning from 9:00 until 9:50, three teachers (including me)and one educational assistant are each working with a small group of students. The children are in groups which rotate through the various adults. Mrs. Hager and I each do guided reading when the kids visit us. Mrs. Arndt reads stories, does author studies and various other language arts curriculum activities. Mrs. Roach works on word work (spelling) activities.
It is such a pleasure to work with a small group of students in an uninterrupted way. The tremendous success that we have had with our students' reading over the past few years is, to a large extent, because of this small group time.
