 Draft: Whole Story of The River Campout 1 going to the river I was with my dad in Texas and we were going to camp by a river that splits Mexico from the United States. We packed our bikes in the back of the car to ride at the campsite. We are now in the car and driving to the river. I can feel the heat and I can see the heat waves. It was a long car drive but we’re now here! I see a bunch of nature surrounding the car. It is beautiful! Great! Perfect! 2 checking it out We are now checking out the place. I see a river. The river is long and wide. I’m talking really long and wide. A fishing dock. There were a ton of spots looking right or left. Finally my dad points out a good spot. The fishing dock looked really old and mossy. But other than a bit of moss and stuff, it looked pretty good. 3 biking then swimming I got out of the car and suddenly I could feel the hot air out side pierce around my body. But the nature looked even better without the tinted window of the car in front of it. I wanted to ride my bike down to the river and take a swim. So did my dad. So we got our bikes out of the trunk. I went down there with my brother and my dad. It was really weird outside there. It was quiet bumpy there. As soon as I got off of my bike I noticed something weird about the water. It had something in it that could have been giant tumbleweeds or trees, I don’t know. It was probably trees. My brother noticed something sticking out of the ground in front of us. We looked at it for a moment. That’s right. we all hesitated for a moment. We walked forward. That is, my brother and I walked forward. Guess what, it was a fish’s skeleton! 4 fishing I went to the campground we were camping at. I parked my bike. Of course my brother and dad came along and we got our fishing rods, the radio, ands some chairs that are foldable. We walked back down to the river and un-packed. The river smelled mossy and old but it was fun to practice casting in. my line kept getting stuck on bushes. But it was still fun. By now I was wishing I had a “rocket fishing rod”(a fishing rod that you pump up and pull a trigger and the line will shoot out of the rod). Finally I got my line in the water but guess what, all the fish were scared off by all of my movement in the water while casting. I was bored so I went and sat down next to my dad. Before we knew it we were walking back to have dinner. On our way we saw something out in a field. “A cow?” said my brother. “A bull?” I asked. “Come on guys” said my dad. 5 Dinner When we got back we lit a fire. I could suddenly feel the warmth of the fire and the warmth of the grill we brought we were going to have hotdogs and hamburgers. Next we had to gather sticks. I don’t know why, but I don’t care I’ll just tell you the rest of the story. I gathered sticks and they were prickly. When my brother only was looking I picked off a needle from a cactus and said, “I got a cactus needle!” I think I kind of danced around after that, I don’t really remember. When everybody was done collecting sticks we had dinner it was hot dogs and hamburgers. Yum! 6 sleeping problem There it was the nighttime sky. Well it is time to go to sleep now. Suddenly I felt something crawling on me. I got up and saw bugs! Nasty bugs! So I opened up the tent door and threw them out. I don’t think I could go to sleep because of the pain in my toe! I woke up my dad and went to the restroom. As soon as I got soon of the dirt out of my toe I could see what happened I got a cut under my toenail when I stubbed it on the brick of an ancient road. Finally when we got back to the site I could sleep. That is much better. That night I did not have a dream. 7 Breakfast Finally almost to the end of the story. Okay back to the story. As soon as I woke up, for some reason I had a perky feeling. I felt like I could run 20 miles! So any way I woke up. I slept in the car so I woke up and got out and it was still dark! So I went to the fire and warmed up my hands. Everything felt good to me. By now you are probably wondering what I was waiting for. Well I’ll tell you. I was waiting for the beautiful morning sun to rise. When it rose and everyone was up and ready we went to look for breakfast spots. It was a long drive to the place where we ate breakfast. So eventually we got to a Denny’s restaurant. In the restaurant it was cool. Somebody led us to a table. I saw pictures all over the walls. It was cool. I can’t quiet remember what I ordered, but I know it was good… really good. 8 the mall When we were done eating we went to the mall. In the mall we were looking for game boy games. We got to the game place and got a few games. They were cool. After we went to the game section we went to the toy section. It took a while to find it. But we managed. Inside the toy section it was filled with toys. Girl toys, boy toys, and all sorts of toys. I picked out 5 hot wheels. So did my brother. Then we walked to the car. We found it. Since we were visiting our dad, we had to go to the airport to fly back home. 9 goodbye The airport was right across the street from the mall so it wasn’t a long ride to the airport. As soon as we got to the airport I got to carry the suit case. When we got inside it was a little dark. But I knew that would not matter. As a matter of fact it was a little better than outside in there. So we did everything a normal person would do in an airport. After everything was done we waited for the plane to arrive. It arrived soon. We said our goodbyes and everything else and we got on the plane. On the plane, everything was usual. I sat down and buckled in. that is pretty much the end of the story right there. NicoleDear Nathan I really enjoyed your story, especially the way you broke it up into chapters, Are you going there again this year for summer break, sounds like the place to be, I really like a camp fire it always leaves you smelling of smoke, plus it keeps the mosquetoes (sp) and bugs away. keep the stories coming Polly
