Math Sorting

We launched our very first unit in math last week on sorting and patterns. We have been focusing on the sorting portion of the unit and already the Kiddoes have been wowing us with their creativity. Today Miss W. posed a challenge to the Kiddoes to help her sort the mixed up manipulatives, leaving the sorting rule up to them. These are a few they came up with:

Things that are soft and things that are not soft

Things that are shiny and things that are not shiny

Things that are jewels and things that are not jewels

Things that are small and things that are not small

These are just a few examples of the amazing ways the Kiddoes came up with for sorting their objects. Their perspectives were even more unique than we could have imagined which was so great to see!

This week we also replaced our Alphabet Match rice table with a Sink/Float Sort water table. It was very popular today during centre time!

The Kiddoes are loving to sort so feel free to take advantage of their curious nature and engage them in sorting activities at home!
