Lou Gehrig Why was Lou Gehrig so loved and respect? Lou Gehrig was so respected because he was a modest person. And he respected the fans and his team. He also was a good baseball player and he wasn’t boastful player. When he played baseball he tried his best when he played. When he stared to get sick he diced to quit baseball and help are country by being former prisoners of New York. Then he died June 2 1941. That’s why he was so loved and respected.
