My Last Hoorah At Fifth Grade!
Well, as I was starting to think about my last blog as a fifth grader (this one), I was reminded of all of the fun I had in the two years in Mrs. Crosby’s class. Then I thought of how much that fun helped me improve, to be who I am today.
The thing that I improved on the most in fifth grade is probably my ability to learn more. What I mean is that, in previous years, I would learn one thing, but forget a different thing that I learned. So I was spending extra time to re-learn a lot of things. But in this year I think I improved on cramming more stuff into my brain, and remembering them too. But how did I do that?
One reason that I thought of was that so much work was slammed in front of me, that my brain had no choice to remember things better. I told my brain, “No more being lazy, brain! Start working hard. Afterall, that’s why you’re here.”
Another, more logical, reason is that I started to remember things more because I used what I learned in school, outside of school. Like figuring what the tax on my parents’ groceries is. By using learning outside of school, I helped myself remember more because on a test I could be like, “How do you figure out the tax on groceries? Oh yeah, remember when I was figuring it out for my mom’s grocery list,” And I would get the question right (if my math is right).
My third reason is that naturally, my brain started to grow, and be able to hold more. If it was this option, maybe I could trust nature to fix all of my other school related problems. Probably not. I think that sometimes you can trust nature, and sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, and try to fix it yourself.
Another thing that I thought I might add is that I really improved on note taking. Before fifth grade I never took notes on anything, and relied on my memory to help me in a test. But now I take notes a lot, and take notes well too. This made me happy, and improved my grades.
But after I thought of how I was sad to leave all of the fun I encountered in fifth grade, I thought of how much fun I was going to have in the Summer. Something that we do that I always love is “The Family Circle.” It’s when we visit many family members throughout Utah and Idaho. But this year is different. We are staying at my hilarious and young, great uncle’s. And we are going to watch The Stadium Of Fire fireworks show on the Fourth of July. But I’m really excited to go to Lagoon, a theme park in Utah. I’ve never been there, but on Google Earth I looked it up, and it looks like a lot of fun.
And after that, I wasn’t so sad. And because this is my last Hoorah at fifth grade, I want to end it well. Here it goes. Goodbye fifth grade! Remember to tune in for season three of The Colton Show because season two is ending... now!
