Eagle Theatre In the mid 1800’s, a lot of people in Sacramento looked for entertainment while they were in town or waiting for a train. The place people went, if they wanted to see a decent show, was the Eagle Theatre. The first show that was performed was on September 25, 1849. Another show was performed on January 4, 1850, this show was not so successful because… Sacramento started to flood!

Since the Eagle Theatre was so close to a river, it started to flood quickly. At first, just the front row started to get wet then it got so bad that people started moving seats to the back so they wouldn’t get wet. Eventually everyone left, including the actors because the theatre was flooded. The Eagle Theatre never entertained another soul again.
