Jean Batten is a girl pilot. She was the first women to fly alone. She was a good New Zealand pilot.
Jean Batten was a girl pilot she started when she was 21. In 1929 aged 20 on her first visit to Australia it was her experience. And that’s when she thought about flying. She was 24 when in 1933 she made her first attempt to fly from England to Australia.
She did not have much to do with her family. Her dad was a dentist, her mum was an actor. She was born in Rotorua in 1909. Jean Batten liked watching aviators and was excited to hear on the radio, that Ross and Keith Smith had won the air race from England to Australia.
Jean Batten tried to achieve more and would set new goals once she had achieved one. She was the first women in the world to fly along from England to Australia. She was the first women to fly from Australia to London.
Later she created other records. For the last five years no one knew where Jean Batten was. She had been bitten by a dog in Palma, Majorca.
She was a girl pilot. She achieved lots and lots of goals. She enjoyed her life.
