Happy Mother's Day

What a fun week we had last week preparing our Mother's Day surprises. We noticed about three weeks ago how the spider plants in the room had a phenomenal amount of baby plants hanging down. We decided it would be fun to give our Moms a special plant as a way of saying, "Thank-you". We looked on the internet to see how we were supposed to harvest the baby plants. We learned that we needed to pinch the baby plant, pull it off the stem, and put it water in order for roots to grow. We also learned that if the baby plant didn't grow any roots first to soak up nutrients in the soil, the plant would simply die. We watched carefully for two weeks as our plants begun to grow small white roots.

Last Monday it was time for us to get down to the business of what our pots were going to look like. Each child was given a paper showing the front and back of a pot. We discussed and charted some things that our Moms liked. From there, each Kiddoe was responsible for designing a special picture/message for their mom.

On Tuesday, our job was to paint our pots using our paper from Monday as a guide. This is an interesting task to watch as it requires a fair amount of processing ability.

On Wednesday, once our pots were dry, it was time to transplant the baby spider plants into our newly decorated pots.

We hope you enjoyed the surprise presents as much as we loved making them. We want all of our Moms to know how special we think we are!!!

I loved my gift!!! Homemade gifts are always the best! It's sitting beside the one I got last year!!! Only trouble is trying to keep the cat from eating it!!!
