Force of friction I learned that; that if the sandpaper is coarser its harder the pull the block across, and that it'll take more friction to stop it.We measure force by using the spring scales (the newtons side). To measure friction you hook something up to the scale and then pull the scale. Look on the newtons side and you'll see that the friction mesurement rose Friction is when you rub two things together or like writing something. Now about variables... In this lesson(s) the variables you can change are surface type, weight, and surface area. Let's say that you changed the surface type to ice. The block would just slip across. And if you changed the blocks weight by adding one or two more blocks , it will be harder to pull the block across.
