I like the idea of the blogs. At first I didn't see why we were doing this but once I read other students blogs it made me think about certain topics more and in a different way.

I like the blogs, the fact that you can see everyone's opinion and they made me think about topics I usually wouldn't think about.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 08:51 PM by
I think that the blogs were useful to those who did them promptly (not the day before). I would suggest discussing the blog content/topics as a two minute warm up during the weeks they are due. One a week, or maybe two a week. That way, people will be more inclined to complete them on time.

In the beginning, i didnt really understand the point of doing all these blogs but then i started to realize that they help you really think about the subject and when you read over the other blogs you understand their understanding as well as your own.

In the begining of the year I didn't see the point in doing the blogs but around the second time I had to do the blogs I started to read the other posts and they helped me understand more about whatever the subject of that blog was.

I liked the blogs because I could see other students' responses and opinions on certain topics, which could help me learn more about the subject.

I liked the blogs because it got me to think and reflect about the things we learned in a real life scenario.

I actually do not think the blogs where very useful in the class this year becuase most kids never bloged until the last day or week they where due. I would change the blogs to you have to do two a week but, other than that i like them.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 12:35 PM by
I really liked thsese blogs because it made me think more indepth at the subject at hand. it would make me question not only HOW something happend but WHY.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 10:59 AM by
I did rather enjoy the blogs over all, it felt like a great way to get my opinion out. Thought the only thing I would change, if you haven't already, is in the link to the blogs, make the address the link brings you to the Cole BlogMaster homepage, not the blog website in general. It would get rid of the need I shuffle through all the names looking for the right one.

I enjoyed the way the blog was used in class this year. I would keep the blogs the same because it offered a relatively easy way to boost my grade
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 09:15 AM by
I honestly think blogs are an easy grade, but overall are so easy to forget about till the last minute, just like right now. I think persian charts should be enforced more than blogs. BBALLPRO IS ***** ******** mr. cole. i dont know if you can see that or not.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 09:04 AM by
I loved the blogs! The easy 100 was something i could always use when i remembered to do them.
I would keep the blog the same way they are now!

I liked how it was used, its another way of communicating with you in private so other people dont know who we are. also it gives us another viewpoint and way of learning. Keep It.

The blogs are an easy 100, so i think Mr.cole should keep allowing them for the upcoming year. Its a way to boost the grade up so i honestly love them
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 08:43 AM by
The blogs were an effective way to raise your grade. They are an easy 100, and they help you express your opinion on different topics. I would definitly keep them for next year, because they are a good grade raise.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 08:36 AM by
i really liked the blogs because its an easy grade and it brought up my grades! its also great to be able to tell your take on things without having other people knowing what you think. it gives us more freedom i guess you could say. but i definitely like how the blog is working right now!
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 08:07 AM by
The blogs were always an easy 100, which typically brought my grade up towards the end of a 6 weeks. The fact that we could talk about our opinions anonymously was my favorite. I liked how we could reflect on what we learned at home, and read other people's opinions to further understand the material.
Comment Posted on May 25, 2012 at 07:00 AM by
I liked the blogs simply for the easy 100 in the daily grade every 6 weeks. it also lets us express our opinions on matter we couldnt always cover in the classroom

I liked the blogs, they challenged me to think more about subjects that were brought up in class that I otherwise would have forgotten about.

not only are these blogs an easy 100, but they really help get my opinions out of some really good topics that you make. its a fun safe way of expressing yourself anonymously. i would DEFINITELY keep doing these.

The blogs were a great thing! It's a free 100 and it gets you to think more about what we had been learning.

I like the blogs because they were an easy daily grade but I don't think they really helped me learn anything.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 11:19 PM by
I really can't think of a way to change the blogs. I loved them! I don't really get to say all that I would want to say during the class period (Mr. Cole, you know my class...) so ranting on these blogs are a great release of steam. I know hardly anybody reads all the way through the answers or even looks through just one, but a cant' believe that people can't be even just a little more creative with they're answers.... It's disappointing really. I'm going to make a restatement of my first sentence: The best way to improve the blogs is to make the students write a specific length. I mean Mr. Cole, you check though all of them right? It seems a little unfair that the grade is basically a free 100 and students take advantage a don't even think about what they're writing. I love writing these, even if I'm doing them seriously last minute! Writing down what I'm thinking makes me feel like I'm expanding my capacity to understand topics I've never really thought about. Keep doing the blogs!!!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:47 PM by
I enjoyed the ability to tell the teacher your feelings without retaliation. I also enjoyed reading the wide spectrum of answers. And heck, free 100's are cool too!;)
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 10:18 PM by
I enjoyed the blogs very much for two main reasons. One was the easy boost to my grade. The other was the ability to freely talk about any subject you would give.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:54 PM by
I liked the idea of the blogs because it's cool that we all got to say what we were thinking, but in think it would have been mire effectivte if we discussed the blogs questions more in class.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:53 PM by
Yes it was helpful because you could see other people's opinions on class/ topics without knowing who that was and I think you should keep the blog the same.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:24 PM by
I would definitely keep the blogs! They helped me to analyze and think about subjects in new ways, and it was also valuable to be able to read other students' thoughts as well!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:13 PM by
i liked how the blogs were a easy 100! and it was cool to see how the other class mates thought! I also liked how you didnt make us use our real names.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:06 PM by
It was an easy 100 and a quick one too. i like that you were really flexible with getting the blogs turned in most of the time (thank you) because i can be forgetful when it comes to doing work, especially when its on the computer. its also interesting to see what everyone in other classes thinks about things and what people who are usually quiet in class think as well. I say keep them.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:01 PM by
I think that the blogs were very useful! If you read the otter comments, then they would help review alot, the questions made you think about different topics that would help you remember for quizzes or tests!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 08:50 PM by
I think the blogs were useless, because the topics you chose didn't really require that much knowledge to talk about which made it a very easy 100.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 08:31 PM by
I like the blogs!!! they help your grade as long as you do them. i just have a little trouble finding it sometimes:/
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 08:16 PM by
i really liked the blogs because they are for the most part easy i would keep it exactly how it is the only thing i dont like is that i would forget about them sometimes
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 08:08 PM by
I enjoyed the blogs because they were always easy 100s! However, they never really helped me much due to the ability to look at the other blogs and pretty much understand what you wanted to say. I did however learn from other peoples blogs, but if i had to be one of the first to answer, i dont know how i would have been able to do it.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 07:51 PM by
The blog is nice but it's hard to interact with other people on here because once people have written their response they don't check back. I think it would have been nice to have more of these questions in class and have an open discussion on the topic.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 07:49 PM by
the blogs help with your grade if you need an easy 100, but i think many people just waited the last day...like me... and wrote something just to get a grade. at times there would be answers just because they wanted to answer!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 07:19 PM by
KEEP IT!!! Its an easy 100 and if your on the edge of an A or B it can change your grade. PLUS it helped with understanding the topics in class
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 06:38 PM by
The blogs gave the class an easy 100, which already makes them good, but it also gave us a chance to give our opinion anonymously (so we don't feel like we'll be judged) and gave us a chance to see other people's viewpoints on the same subject (which can help us learn more about the subject). If you're thinking about discontinuing them, banish that thought from your head. In fact, banish that thought to Siberia.

The blogs gave the class an easy 100! which is good, it helped a lot. I liked how it allowed us to voice our opinions anonymously!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 03:34 PM by
Well I don’t think it was a bad thing because it’s an easy 100! But it was good that we got to reflect outside of class so that way if you just thought of something after you left the class then you can blog about it.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 03:23 PM by
I think the greatest thing about the blogs was that everyone got to put their input into it. You might not get to say what you wanted to say in class, but you could address the issue on blogs. I've never done a blog before this so it was definintley an interesting experience.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 02:34 PM by
I don't feel that the blogs really added anything to the class besides an easy grade. Looking at comments can be somewhat entertaining and educational, but I feel the class was way better than these blogs.

I like the blogs, they made me think on alot of things i would've otherwise ignored. I don't think there's anything wrong with them. They were unique adn different.

I think the blogs are great because they can really get your mind going on certain topics and you can view other peoples opinions on the same topics to in order to help you even more.

The blog in the beginning of the year were fun until after Christmas break then they became more of a boring assignment that I'd forget to do

I loved the blogs, it gave me a way to express my own ideas and it also allowed me to find answers to questions i had on different things.

I like the blogs...they made me think for myself and create my own opinions. I also got to see others opinions andante differences from mine thoughts to theirs.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:50 AM by
I love the blogs, they are definitely one of
The most unique things about the class!! I think it would be nice to do a blog every week or every other week, that way students could be writing about things in class as they are happening!! I think it would be fun if there was a more discussion type atmosphere instead of just answering a question, but I guess that's all up to the students!!
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 09:41 AM by
I love the blog, it helps get us thinking about things we are discussing at the moment in AP World History as well as putting out our opinions for others to see on current topics relevant to today. I say that you keep the blog the way it is, it is great!

I think that the blogs were a good idea becasue it allowed the students to engage with each other and refresh on past lessons. It also made us have to think on critical topics.

I loved the blogs because it was always a good way to get a free 100 to pad my grade. It also helped me understand more with the help of the answers from fellow bloggers.

I liked the blogs because they were fun to see what other people learned and how it compared to what I talked about in my blogs. i think they are an interesting way to review things we have learned throughout the year, and definately a fun, anonymous way to communicate.
Comment Posted on May 24, 2012 at 08:14 AM by
the blogs were a great idea. it helped form opinions and to help organize your thoughts. I personally view that the blogs should have been more required. like write the question on the board and have us write it on your blog that night so that gives us a chance to formulate an answer

KEEP IT! I really liked the blogs because I actually learned alot of things from my classmates! It was a really comfortable way to express my opinions...although I'd often forget about them... :)

I really liked the blogs, they made me really think and have an opinion of my own on things that I really wouldn't ever think of or care about. Plus, its an easy 100 which always helps.

Mmm... I like the blogs for the ability to express opinions, but I think it would be nice to encourage debate amongst students, rather than the typical answering to a prompt.

The blogs have been a great way to voice opinions some people may not have heard otherwise. I love being able to read what other people thought about key issues in the class and in the world, and the topics were awesome. The blog an easy grade that really gets people thinking.

I liked the blogs, they were easy to do and they showed your own opinion or knowledge of a topic. They make you think more in depth or simple make you think of what you learned yesterday in class. It reinforces what you learn but also shows what you know and what you think about things. I like it.
Comment Posted on May 22, 2012 at 08:23 PM by
The blogs provided insight into other people's opinions, without resulting in internet fights (as seen in other social networking sights). It is a good idea to recieve other people's input.
Comment Posted on May 22, 2012 at 07:29 PM by
I liked the blogs because it allowed me to anonymously voice my opinions. It also allowed me to think about topics as opposed to in class where discussions tended to be difficult to follow once multiple voices began shouting over each other. PLus it was an easy grade for those who constantly do their work.
Comment Posted on May 22, 2012 at 07:12 PM by
I love the blog! Yeah, it's a fairly easy grade, but trust me, no one is complaining. On top of that, it is really nice to be able to read othe students' comments and, without being able to judge them based on their identity, be able to learn from their comments and form new opinions or become more steadfast in your original viewpoint.

while i appreciate the need for an easy grade, i do not think they accomplished the point of a blog, which is to start a discussion. all of the comments just respond to the prompt and i very much doubt that anyone actually reads the other peoples posts.

Yes, I like the way the blogs are set up. They allow the students to express their opinions confidentially, therefore we can actually speak our mind without wondering what others will think. We can be more open.

I enjoyed the blogs because it was a neat way to have class discussion and to put your knowledge to the test. It allowed a variety of opinions to be voiced without getting into a heated arguement, so all sides could be preached. One thing I may suggest is the blogging of Mr. Cole too, in response to some blogs so it can be open ended discussions/life talk. This is a interesting way to learn and talk about history.

I thought the blogs were fine, and I wouldn't change a thing. It is an easy 100 and having easy grades are nice every once in a while in a AP class.
Comment Posted on May 22, 2012 at 03:57 PM by
I enjoyed them because of the easy grade but i myself need more reminders. I ALWAYS forgot about them until the last minute. Maybe if time is left at the end of class kids could go to the library and get maybe one or two done.
Comment Posted on May 22, 2012 at 03:11 PM by
Overall, I liked the blogs. It was nice knowing there was not only somewhere where I could express my opinions and thoughts (and knowing they would be read) but also that I could do it semi-anonymously and on my own time, when I had a chance to think about what I wanted to say. There was always at least one interesting topic for the blogs that I enjoyed giving my input on. I liked it when all the topic choices were not strictly about the chapter, like when there was something immediately relevant to today's context. I like being able to see other people's responses as well, though I usually don't read most of them. So keep the blogs for sure, and I don't know if there was anything significant I would change about them.

I definitely liked doing the blogs. Not only were they an easy grade, but they made me think and talk about some of the things we learned in class which helps me remember and understand them better. And, honestly, I had to look up some stuff online to answer some of them and ended up learning some things that I may not have otherwise.

The Hip Hop Head
The blogs provided a way of expressing my knowledge of history in general and applying it to the class. It has been tough sometimes to find a topic that interests me at that moment, but I guess nothing short of social networking to meet those desires. This is the first time that I have had a opportunity like this to make an open blog in school. The one thing I did not like was the fact that I didn't know how many blogs I had sent until after the grade had posted. So in order to know for sure that I did all the blogs and that they had actually sent was to do the blogs well over three days in advance to the actual due date. There was an case in the 4th six weeks where I thought I had sent four when Mr. Cole only received three, resulting in a 75.

I liked blogs, although i forget to do them until last mintue most times....they were very easy! Although i would change next year other students being able to see other students responses, i know many that just looked at other peoples and gathered their anwser from that!
Comment Posted on May 21, 2012 at 04:50 PM by
I like the blogs because it lets you put out your opinion without offering it in class and not having to worry about 'What if this is wrong?'. However, they're entirely too easy to forget about and the topics are limited. Plus, it's an assignment that you get done with and never look at it again, kinda like chemistry. So I guess maybe a wider range of topics along with more due dates than every 6 weeks or so.

I liked how the blogs helped me remember the general concepts we had been learning in class and the fact that it was an easy grade, but I didn't read the blogs of other people. So in that sense, I didn't get the most out of the blogs as I could have. Overall, it was fairly beneficial.

I liked the blogs mainly because it was a free 100 which brought my grade up but it was also easy to look at other comments and pull information from classmates' responses. But I would keep it because it only helps you study a little more.

yes and no, i liked them because they taught us to think outside of class and to come together and show our opinions on well basically world history, and no because i wish we had a more wide range of topics and not just limited down to a certain few.

I actually liked the blog idea this year. I gave us a chance to express our thoughts outside of the classroom. The only problem I had with the blog was it is a bit of a hassle to. If there was a way to get easier access to it, it would be really helpful.

the blogs were very helpful throughout the year. i feel they got me thinking outside the box which needs to happen in an ap class. they also always seemed to boost my grade also

despite the fact that i forgot about them alot, it interesting to see other peoples views and how they explain it in their own terms.

i think the blog is perfect! it also helps a lot grade-wise; sometimes we all need an easy 100

I definitely liked the blogs. It's fun to give your opinions online with everyone else in the class and you learn things by reading other people's blogs too. I would keep the blogs the same.

The blogs were great because this was a free 100 and i would not change it

The blogs were somewhat useful; they made you think and ask your self thematic questions, but i felt that they help us learn anything that we would remember. The questions were good, but it seemed like blogs were one of those things that you do and then forget about. It didn't help us absorb the knowledge. Maybe increase the frequency of blogs?

Absolutely because it is an easy grade and it got people to answer questions that they might not just think up on their own. I would keep the blog but change it in that class discussion as well as online blog would be used to answer insightful questions.

I like the idea of the blogs, but if they were somehow more learning oriented and open discussion-like, especially for review, that would be nice. If the students could post questions and have other students and the teachers answer questions, it might be more educational.

I liked the blogs. I felt that it was a very good way to voice opinions without having to share them in front of the whole, entire class. (I find that stressful.) And as an added plus, you get to give yourself an awesome nickname (like historymaster)! I would keep them the same.

I really liked the blogs. They really made me think and reflect about things we learned. I wouldn't change anything.

The only thing I did not like about this blog system is that it originally took me forever to find your blog out of that long list of Texas teachers. Sometimes, I would accidently click the wrong name and have to go through the entire system again. Instead of linking to the general blog website, could you link directly to your blog on your school website? I would bet that your students next year will appreciate it greatly.

I liked the blogs! First of all its a good grade saver. I liked getting to see others opinions and see what they feel or think on a particular subject. I would definently keep the blogs because you can see subjects in new light.

I didn't enjoy the blogs because i didn't feel like they were related to world history to help me learn throughout the year, i would try to make the topics different next year.

I would keep the blogs because they make students keep track and be responsible of how many blogs they have done.

I think the blogs were great this year and they really helped keeping critical thinking going even at home.

I liked the way the blog was used in class this year, but one thing I would change about it is the that the blogs could be about something we could be having a quiz about more often. That way I could kill two birds with one stone!

I thought the blogs were kind of pointless, but are a easy grade, if the info provided is reasonable.

I liked the way the blogs were spread out throughout the year, they kept me intact with eveything that is going on in the class and helped answer any questions I had about a certain topic.

I do like the blogs simply due to the fact that they are an easy grade if you take the time and effort to actually do them. Sometimes they can be helpful with learning, but overall I enjoy the opinionated blogs the most.
