History of the Japanese Kimono

Guiding Question: Why is the Japanese kimono as it is today?

I learned many things when researching this topic. First of all, I learned that the kimono started out as a simple top and trousers or a dress. The word “kimono” literally means clothing in Japanese characters. Later in the Heian period, a new method called straight-line-cut method developed. This method made the kimono look like a kosode kimono does today. In the Edo period, many different types and designs of making the kimono were developed. That’s why the kimono is as it is today.

I also learned many things from walking around the World History Fair. I learned that the Indian temple was shaped like a chariot. I learned that there were actually many different types of clothing you wore in Ancient Rome. I also learned about the different types of food Ancient Greek people ate.

At home I have 4 cats but they all have weird names and we usually come up with ryhms for their names and how they act individually. Some other information is I am currently a brown belt but my brother and I are going to test soon for our brown senior and we are going to try and make it to black belt.
