Today we compiled all the information we have learned during our research and completed our KWL chart. We were surprised how quickly we were able to become "experts/herpetologists". Utilizing many different sources the Kiddoes were very engaged during this project. Not only did our knowledge base about garter snakes grow, the kiddoes also engaged in the following activities:

- shared reading/writing

- guided reading

-differences between non-fiction and fiction books

- text features discussions

Perhaps the most excitement came when I announced that each Kiddoe was going to being doing his/her very own research project next. Yes... you read that right! Starting this week, each child will be choosing which insect he/she would like to research. Keep watching to see how this project will develop!
