Blog #2 Writing Varibles The final text that I produced for this assignment was an email to my best friend of 30 plus years. I wrote to her as though we had experienced what the article “Running Down Theories about Hanging Shoes” by Gabrielle Giroday was discussing. My letter was meant to provoke a memory and to acknowledge that her theory about the hanging shoes was possibly correct. I changed the text’s form from an article to a personal letter and the audience from the general public to one close friend. I chose to change these two variables because I have had discussions about the histories of hanging shoes though not with this particular friend.I like writing emails to my friends so this was a natural choice for me. The changing of the form to a personal letter automatically affected the audience so this was not a choice per se. These two changes also caused the purpose and main idea to change from general inquiry to a personal discussion between two friends. The changing of these variables changed the language from being informative to casual. Being that my text was meant to provoke memory I didn’t have to use as many adjectives as the article meant for informing and initiating conversation did. One similarity beteeen these two particular peices is that they both leave the reader with questions and myself as well.
