” The Skin Im In” Sharon G. Flake is a realistic fiction novel by Sharon G. Flake .It was published in January by hyperion books on January 3,2000.The plot of this book is about Maleeka Madison a seventh grader who has dark skin, and everyone makes fun of her for that. Also tease her about her clothes her mother makes her ,which is not well done. A popular girl at school Char made a deal with Maleeka that if she does her homework she could wear her clothes to school. This new teacher that arrives at the school Miss Saunders, she likes Maleeka .But Char makes her mad, so she make a plan to get revenge on her so she sets her classroom on fire. The characters of this book are Maleeka,Char ,Miss Saunders. I thought the book was great I had a connection with the main character, because I used to be teased as well. I learned that you don’t have to be beautiful on the outside but on the inside.
