We have three 6th grade Science classes and two 8th grade Science classes blogging here from the Pacific Northwest in Chimacum, WA! Sixth graders are learning a bit about Mt Saint Helens, environmental science through fresh water ecology, and physical science this year. Eighth graders are learning about life science this year. How is are creek doing? This is what i have learned about our creek ! Dissolved Oxygen this the average for this year 8.125 and also Dissolved Oxygen for short you can Call it D.O. And plants give out Oxygen 5 and 15 up and down is good for our creek.

pH stands for Postive hydrogen and the average for this year is really close to 6 and that means are creek is doing really Great!

Turbidity the average for this year is 44.7 NTUS and that is good 100 NTUS fish suffer stress 1,000NTUS fish die of a matter of weeks 10,000 is fish die in days!
Nitrates the avrage for this year is 0.3 that is good for our creek 1.0mg/l bad is bad below 1.0 is great!

Ammonium the average for this year is 1.6mg/L 0 is a great for our creek !Flow Rate our average is 1972.8 per secthat is Good for our creek! Med speed is are good! Slow is great is because the baby fish can swim!

Temperature the average for this year is 37.1 and 44.4 40 is good for our creek and eggs have to be cold to hatch and if you want to help our creek then do not throw trash into our creek and do not put plastic in our creek the fish can die!
