Don't follow the worms
Construction Theory
Anyone who knows me probably knows my obsession with Pink Floyd. Also what better than for a blog than to use something by them. I chose the song "Waiting For The Worms" because I think that it has a lot to do with Humanism. Humanist experts would definitely celebrate this song.
My first reasoning behind why I believe it has examples of Humanism is the lines "Waiting to weed out the weaklings, Waiting to smash in their windows
,and kick in their doors, waiting for the final solution". With those lines, they're showing you the mindset of a powerful corrupt system or government. An example would be the Nazi party.
The second reason that actually without a doubt takes in through the eyes of the Nazi party is "Waiting to turn on the showers
And fire the ovens
Waiting for the queens and the coons
and the reds and the jews
Waiting to follow the worms". Those lines although some people interpret that as being supportive of the Nazi party, are in fact strongly against that way of thinking.
This song was about exposing that way of thinking and getting a message of how pointless and evil wars and governments and even people can be. Humanism experts would celebrate this song for trying to expel hateful thinking and advance towards more peaceful methods.
