Poetic Effects Poets use a large variety of tools when they write a poem. One of the common tools they use is rhyming. They use this to make the poem have a more "up-beat" tone. It makes the reader more interested when reading the poem. A reader would want to read more and more of the poem if it had a rhythm to it. It makes it easier to read.
