We were fortunate to be chosen as one of four classrooms in our province to be part of a Global Citizen video project with the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC). Our class was selected as one of Saskatchewan’s school groups that are helping to create a more just and sustainable world through their engagement in meaningful global citizenship activities.
The criteria for successful nominees was to be a K-12 classroom creating awareness about global issues, demonstrating the promotion of global citizenship and an understanding of international issues, as well as to be available for collaboration with SCIC for the creation the video profile.
We were chosen on the basis of our involvement in community and international service projects such as supporting The Regina Humane Society, The World Wildlife Federation and our work with Project Love. We have also worked on a Peace Project with 47 schools around the world http://globalpeacemovie.weebly.com/, a Civil Rights Project and we are currently part of a Geography Project. We have had guests speak to us about sustainability of projects and working in developing countries along with how Canadians impact the rest of the world.
Our goal this year is to make a difference in our community whether it be local or global.
Congratulations to you and your class! Keep up the good work!

Kimberly congratulations! You and your kids deserve recognition, you work so hard and do so much to promote connections between students and educate teachers (speaking for myself, anyway)and I\'m so glad we connect. I think I kind of messed up on Friday writing somehow, our lab has been down with no internet connection. I don\'t know the other blogs to look at besides your. I\'ll have my kids comment back, though, when we return. This Friday the kids are off (we have a PD) and then we have a week\'s winter break. It was great to see you, finally!! You are very photogenic - and a very good speaker.
If you are on break too I hope you enjoy and get some restorative time.
Best,
Lisa
