Robert Frost Some things that poets can use to create effects in their writing are emotion, sound devices, and word choice. Emotion helps create effects by setting a mood for the reader. A poem filled with emotion will mean more than a poem that is boring and dull. Sound devices can create enjoyment for the reader, with methods such as rhyming and alliteration, the poems are more fun to read. A lot of children's poems, especially Dr. Seuss, have sound devices. Finally, word choice can make a poem sound better, and sometimes words are more fun than others making the poem enjoyable.
