Mikey's Blog

This blog is for Miss Jovanovich's algebra and geometry classes to share ideas, ask questions, and reflect on what skills and topics we are studying. If we are lucky, we might even get a chance to connect with other students studying the same stuff.

Scratch! Today is Thursday, January 26, and Midterm Week is finally over! I did very well on most of my midterms, with the exception of Technology and Careers, which I got a 90 in. In Geometry, I got a 96, which I was extremely happy about.

For the past few Geometry classes, we have been talking about the program Scratch. It is a computer design program which was developed by students at MIT. I went on their websites, and picked out one project that I really liked. It's link is here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ciscocreations/1688752.

This project is a tessellation of creative shapes that come together to form a large square. I like this project because of it's bright colors and also because it gave me an idea of what to do for our Geometry project, which is going to be on Scratch.

I thought that it was a good idea to find a project that related to what we were going to do. The colors were fun to watch and I got a little dizzy.

I really liked this one because it's hard to tell how it's going to fit until it's actually in place. Though it's the same thing over and over again, I couldn't help but watch it until the end.

Great find, Mikey! I thought it was neat how there were two different tessellations that you could pick from, it kept it interesting! And watching the color scheme change once the whole screen was filled with shapes was really cool as well.

Hi Mikey,
I like your Scratch program. It's cool how shapes can be formed like that with all those smaller shapes. And I agree with Amanda that the colors make it more interesting.

Bye Mikey.

This is a really interesting project and I'm glad I got the chance to see it. It really helped me understand more about the project we will be expected to do. I also wanted to know what student did this one. It was featured by Scratch and i think that's really cool.

This is a really neat tessellation! The bright colors made it more interesting, and I found it fun to watch! It's so cool how one simple shape like that can be combined with others to form one giant shape! Thanks for the inspiration, Mikey! :)

Michael, nice choice! This Scratch project was made by one of my geometry students last year. Glad it gave you some ideas and I hope a few of you classmates take a look at it also.
