Christmas in Russia
For this blog assingment I am doing Russia. Most Christian Russians belong to the Eastern Orthodox Church, and it is coustumary to fast until after the first church service on January 6, Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve a traditional meal called: " The Holy Supper" is served. The meal begins when the first evening star appears in the sky. The family gathers around the table to honer the coming of the Christ Child. A white tablecloth, symbolic of Christ's swaddleing clothes covers the table. I like how the Russains wait until the first evening star appears in the sky to start the Holy Supper. I also like how they fast until after the first chuch sevice on January 6.
