Our class is reading biographies. I am reading mine on Harriet Tubman. I have not yet finished the book but so far I know that she was born as a slave in the year 1820 in Bucktown, Maryland. As a young teen Harriet would try to defend the other slaves when they were htreatened to be whipped, but by doing this suffered a crumpled skull and black-outs. She married John Tubman, a free African Aearican. She wanted to escape and start a new life in a new state not as a slave. She escaped one night alone,and in a few days got to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and got a job. She was very happy now. Thatss all I know so far about Harriet Tubman. I also have some questions about her. How did she die? Did her husband eventualy come to Philadelphia with her?And, how did she save the slaves? Who is your favorite biography based on?
