 Salmon fry  Salmon Fry The fry start living in schools and they start feeding into the river. They feed mostly on zooplankton until they're big enough to eat aquatic insects. Some salmon live in the river up to three years. Some go to the river as soon as they leave their nests. Loss of habitat along streams, rivers, and bays is one of their dangers.
