The Dust Witch was killed when Mr. Halloway put his smile on the bullet that was handed to the witch. He already knew from her withdrawl from trying to kill him that his happiness hurts her. It is when she chokes on the bullet from his smile that she dies.

In the story the dust witch dies when mr. halloway draws a smiley face on the bullet. Which laughter was the cause of her death.

Mr. halloway killed the dust witch. Mr. Dark asked for volunteer from the audience and no one but Mr. Halooway stepped forward. Mr. Dark told Charles to write his initials on the bullet so he knew it was the real one, however instead of writing his initials he drew a smile. The witch had the real bullet in her mouth and when she saw what Mr. Halloway had drawn she swallowed the bullet and died.
