California's History The most important thing in California’s history was when the Bear Flag Revolt and war with Mexico happened. It was important because it helped gain California for the United States.

The war with Mexico was important. It was important because the Americans won the war and paid $15 million for 525,000 square miles of the land that was owned by the Mexicans. That is about 4 cents an acre and $28 a square mile. That’s how the United States gained four states.

The Bear Flag Revolt was interesting. It was because 30 rebels were encouraged by John C. Fremont to arrest Marino Guadalupe Vallejo. When the rebels went to Vallejo’s house he answered the door and invited a few of the rebels inside. One by one, Vallejo invited the rebels in. When he invited the rebels, they had refreshments, but then the rebels arrested Vallejo.
The Bear Flag Revolt was important and the war with Mexico was also . They were important because it helped the United States gain California.
