In chapter 29 why did Jim take down the lightning rod?

I think he wanted to test his luck you cn infer this because Jim is always doing dumb stuff and this time he wanted to test nature.

In chapter 29 Jim took down the lightning rod just for the sake of it. In the book it says "Stolen? No. Jim take it down? Yes! Why? For the shucks of it. Smiling, he had climbed to scuttle the iron, dare any storm to strike his house!". That is why Jim took down the lightning rod.

Hi Ben! When I read chapter 29 it said that Jim said he did it just because. Will was pestering Jim into putting it back up but Jim said there was nothing to worry about and if lightning wanted to strike his house, go for it! (:

The reason he takes it down is he will tempt fate in any way he can. He said specifically to Will just "for shucks of it."
