Will asks his dad about good and bad because he wants to know if he's good enough to defeat the carnival. He asks "Will it save me if I need saving? I mean, if I'm around bad people..." (Bradbury 97)

Will asked his dad if he is good. He is concerned that being good would have to be help when things get really rough. Will asks his dad, “Will that help when things get really rough” (Bradbury 134).

Becca, Will is very concerned about weather he is a good or bad person. With all the craziness going on with the carnival, I think he feels more safe knowing that he is a good person. I guess he feels that that will somehow protect him.
