The Box
It was a warm summer morning and my wife Hattie and I were going to Nebraska with a box for Hattie from my brother in law. After about 3 or 4 hours our horse fell asleep. So I also fell asleep, but Hattie stayed awake. She was thinking about what is in the box because Spencer (my brother in law) told her not to open it unless things got there worst. After I woke up I fed the horse and we went a little further.
Finally we got to Nebraska. I just started working on the house. Hattie wanted me to make a spot to put the box in. After that I finished the house. Now I started to work on the fence. I just broke my leg.
I have to go to see the doc. Hattie just opened the box and nothing is in the box. I don’t know if I can make it. I might have to cut it off. Now I just sit in my chair.
Apparently my leg healed. I didn’t have to spend a dime. Hattie thinks that I should still rest. After a day or two I started walking. After about four days I could jog.
After everything that has happened I finished the fence. Our crops grew bigger than ever. Our cattle gave a lot more milk. Hattie made me sweaters to improve the house in the winter. That is my story.
