A Jail Cell, or a Duel to the Death In my opinion, the perfect "closed setting" for a mystery story would be in a jail cell. The setting would show the criminal all sad and locked up with lots of guards around him. I think that would be very satisfying for all the readers to see after the horrible things the criminal did. On the other hand, the perfect "closed setting" could be on a field where the main character and the criminal duel to the death, where the protagonist wins.
