 SPEED VRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM! There are two very important car history facts for this month. One is Craig Breedlove set a new land speed record. Also George Selden patented the gas-powered car. On November 15, 1965 Craig Breedlove set a land speed record of 600.601 MPH in a $250,000 car that used a Navy surplus engine to power it. Breedlove also on the same day broke another record for a 3 wheel land speed record with a small version of the big car. George Selden patented the gas powered car on November 5, 1895. The car was a two cylinder internal combustion engine car. It turns out he copied a car he saw at a convention in 1872. The ALAM never found out about this so they said nobody could make a gas-powered car without permission from Selden or they would be sued. In 1903 Henry Ford came out with the model T so Selden went out of business by 1904. This month was an important month in car history.
