 Across this Vast Sea Dear,Pa It’s been really hard since we left with Uncle Robert and Aunt Jean to the New Land. Especially since it has gotten so boring on the ship with nothing to do Marcos and I tend to fight a lot. I mean the other day I got into a fight with Marcos and I gave him a black eye and I really got bruised up. Another thing that really stinks is that we all stink since we have not taken a shower in over eight weeks. Aunt Jean says it’ll be a long time till we even see fresh water and that really worries me if we run out. The food really gets boring after almost eight weeks of salted pork, beans, cheese, and stale bread, plus mice have gotten all over our rations and that makes it even worse. I hate the storms even more because we are all cramped up down in our living quarters and we don’t even know what is going on out side. You’ll never believe what just happened… Marcos and I got into one of our usual fights and it was going pretty well I mean if I were an announcer at the street fights in England. I had hit him in the head and he fell back then I got on top of him and started hitting him when all of a sudden we both fell off of the ship and when I thought all hope of life was lost I was hanging on to a piece of wood sticking out of the ship holding onto my brother’s hand and still the waves were crashing against our backs. I was scared to death. In less than a minute, men held out a rope and we clung onto it with our dear life. Once they pulled us onto the deck I was praying to Lord Jesus with my dear life and I accepted God right then. I was very glad I stayed alive. Well I hope you could ‘a been there but I can’t wait to see you next spring.
