Mrs. Friesen's Grade 1 Classroom

Welcome to Mrs. Friesen's Grade 1 classroom for the 2012-2013 school year. During our computer technology time, we will be using our classroom blog to communicate what we are learning in our classroom. The students will be working on communication skills through a technological medium. Please feel free to ask questions and comment for the students to read and reply. Happy blogging!

Amazing Owls!!

WOW!!! We have been very busy this week learning all about owls. On Tuesday, a burrowing owl named Sanders travelled all the way from Moose Jaw to visit our classroom. We learned a lot about burrowing owls; where they live, what they eat and how they are an endangered species. The best part was definitely when we got to pet Sanders!

On Wednesday, we learned more about how owls eat and digest their food by participating in an owl pellet dissection lab. We dissected different owl pellets and found a lot of interesting bones, feathers and insects. The bone sorting charts are now making their way to each student's home! Enjoy the pictures below!
