Sixth graders are learning a bit about Mt Saint Helens, environmental science through fresh water ecology, and physical science this year. Eighth graders are learning about life science this year. This is a giant scud.Scuds are only worth two points on the paper because they are tolerant to water pollution.It turns out Chimicum Creek got a score of 21!The picture below shows how we did it.


 


Heres how it works.First we took bugs from Chimicum creek.And then we put them under a microscope an take pics.Then we identify them.And if they are very intolerent then they are worth 4 points.If they are intolerent they are worth 3 points.If they are tolerent they are worth 2 points.If they are very tolerent they are only worth one.We came up with 21 points thats a high score.Thats good! Now if you compare Chimicum creek to Yellow Jacket creek Yellow Jacket creek won.They got 25 and we got 21.
