Turtel Bay Yes,the author did make Taro believable.I think tihs because a real boy can sweap the baech.For Example a real boy can sit on a rock in the beach and walch dolphins.Plus a real boy can be on a boat and see a can walch see turtles lay there eggs.This is why i think the author did make taro believable.
